Where to Find the Best Cakes in Porto: Top 5

There’s something special about taking a break during a busy day, sitting down with a slice of cake, and enjoying the moment. In Sweden, they call this tradition Fika—a time to relax, enjoy something sweet, and connect with yourself or others. Porto has plenty of places where you can have a Fika moment. Here are my top 5 places to enjoy the best cakes in Porto.

1. Carlotta Cake Boutique (Foz & Downtown)

Carlotta Cake Boutique is a great place for cake lovers. They have two locations—one in Foz and another inside the secondhand store Com Sotaque in downtown Porto. They love experimenting with flavors, and the current favorites are the Carrot Cake, the 4 Leites, and the famous Red Velvet. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the Passion Fruit & Chocolate, which is becoming super popular.

I love their Lemon & Raspberry Cake, which I enjoyed with a refreshing juice last time I visited.

You can also order their cakes via Uber Eats, making it super convenient. A slice costs €5.30 and is perfect for sharing as they serve generous portions.

After enjoying the cake, I spent some time shopping for pretty dresses at Com Sotaque. If you love sustainable shopping, check out my post on the best secondhand stores in Porto for more great finds!

📍Locations:

  • Rua Fonte da Luz, Foz 183, 4150-743 Porto
  • R. do Alferes Malheiro 120, 4000-059 Porto (inside Com Sotaque)

2. Bolinhos do Jorge

Located in Campanhã, Bolinhos do Jorge is a cozy spot where the cakes are homemade with love. Their Brownie and the Orange Cake with Chocolate Ganache are popular, but the Natas do Céu Cake is my personal favorite.

The shop has a warm, welcoming atmosphere, and they also offer Uber Eats and Bolt Food delivery options. Slices cost between €3 and €4.50, making it an affordable treat.

📍Location: Rua de Pinto Bessa 471, Loja 1, 4300-430 Porto

3. Chocolate Rosa (Mercado do Bom Sucesso)

Chocolate Rosa, located inside the Mercado do Bom Sucesso, is famous for its Mil Folhas Cake. Though the portions are smaller than they used to be, the taste is still worth it. It’s rich, tasty, and pairs perfectly with a coffee.

If you’re in the Boavista area, this is a convenient stop for a sweet treat after browsing the market stalls. They also have Uber Eats delivery service. Slices cost between €4 and €5.

📍Location: Praça do Bom Sucesso, 4150-144 Porto (inside Mercado do Bom Sucesso)

4. Comfort Cakes

If you love cute, Instagrammable spots, then Comfort Cakes is a must-visit. Located in Lapa area, this café offers delicious single-serving cakes in various flavors, with the Red Velvet being the standout option. The space is cozy and perfect for enjoying cake while doing some work, especially on sunny days when you can sit outside. It is the most kid-friendly option, as it has a play area in the back.

Cakes cost between €3.50 and €4.50, making it a great spot to enjoy a sweet break without breaking the bank. They also have delivery option with Uber Eats.

📍Location: R. de Antero de Quental 260, 4050-052 Porto

5. Rosi Café

Rosi Café is a newer addition to Porto’s café scene, having opened in June 2023. The café is owned by a Ukrainian couple and offers specialty coffee and some tasty Ukrainian dishes. Their Carrot Cake is incredible, and it’s a great spot for brunch or just to relax in their super cozy backyard.

Dessert prices range from €3 to €5, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it a perfect spot to unwind.

📍Location: Rua do Rosário 281, 4050-370 Porto

Bonus: Venham Mais Cinco

Though Venham Mais Cinco is a restaurant, it’s also an excellent place to grab a coffee and their amazing Chocolate Cake after a day of shopping. The cake is rich and gooey, making it the perfect end to a busy day.

📍Location: R. de Santo Ildefonso 219, 4000-470 Porto
