Discovering Barrica on The Fork was pure chance. Intrigued by the concept, we made a reservation and dressed up a bit more than usual, ready for a night out.
The pre-dinner call from the restaurant, asking about any food allergies or restrictions, set the tone for what would be a unique and personalized experience. This was the first time a restaurant had ever asked us such detailed questions before we even arrived, which instantly marked Barrica as special.
When we arrived, the ambiance was intimate and inviting. We were greeted with a sparkling welcome drink. We could have chosen the wine pairing for an additional 35 euros per person, but we went with a mid-range bottle from the waiter’s suggestions that did not disappoint.
The couvert, an assortment of breads, butters, and olive oil, was a great way to start the experience. The amuse-bouche that followed was outstanding. Then came the soup, served in a very unique way—poured from a beautiful teapot. Both main courses—one fish, one meat—were exquisitely prepared, each bite melting in our mouths. Finally, the dessert was a perfect ending, complementing everything we had enjoyed before.
Throughout the meal, we resisted the urge to open the envelope containing the menu, preferring to guess the ingredients and flavors before the waiter provided us with an explanation of what we had just eaten.
